About Mike

Mike was first elected to represent the 21st Assembly District (Farmington and Unionville) in 2012. Mike is a Deputy Majority Leader, and a member of the Public Health, Environment, and Energy & Technology committees. He has also served on the Education Committee and the Executive and Legislative Nominations Committee.

Prior to becoming a state representative, Mike served on the Farmington Town Council from 2006 to 2013, and worked at the Legislature’s Public Safety & Security Committee. He also worked in the Commerce Committee, the Blue Ribbon Commission on Municipal Opportunities and Regional Efficiencies, and the Task Force on Law Enforcement’s Response to Family Violence.

A former high school and middle school history teacher, Mike was a stay-at-home parent when his children were young. He served on the East Farms School PTO Executive Board, was a library volunteer, and worked as a tutor in the Kindergarten Acceleration Program.

Mike earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown in 1980, majoring in the interdisciplinary College of Social Studies program (History, Economics, and Government). Mike is a life-long Connecticut resident, and has lived in Farmington for over 30 years. He and his wife Brenda have two grown daughters, Emily and Katie.
